The LP-Style Vintage Burst Guitar Story
While attending courses at the Summit School of Guitar Building, I had the opportunity to build two guitars. I knew going into the courses that I wanted to build the Marrow mk 1 I had designed beforehand. When confronted with the task of choosing another model to build as the second guitar, I could think of no better benchmark of skills and craftsmanship than the renowned Gibson Les Paul.
I chose this guitar purely for the challenge, to push myself and see what I could create in a limited amount of time.
Built from an accurate 1959 schematic, I strived to create as true a replica as I could with the materials I had access to. It is not a forensically made copy - it has a three piece quarter sawn neck, an ebony fretboard, and altered wiring to suit my tastes.
Despite these changes, it still manages to retain that classic LP tonality, and oozes classic rock vibes. With a set of custom made low wind PAF replica pickups, this guitar nails that crunchy classic rock sound we have all come to know and love.
